After a one week break to accommodate the final NASCAR race of the season, harness racing returns to Kawartha Downs this Saturday night.
LDL Gem will attempt to score her fourth straight win in the fifth race. Nick Boyd will be at the lines as usual for the family race mare who is trained by Boyd’s uncle Jim who co-owns with his kids Jessica and Dustin Boyd.
LDL Gem isn’t the only distaffer riding a winning streak coming into Saturday’s card. Wishing Well has two wins in a row at the Fraserville track for owner and trainer Dave Snowden. Reg Gassien will guide the well bred daughter of Well Said who is a half-sister to $1.3 million winner Rare Jewel.
Snowden will also start Royal Machery in the ninth race. The four-year-old gelding by Mach Three captured his last two races at Kawartha. He is the last foal of Snowden’s top race mare Queens Arms, a winner of $719,000 in her career.
