Young driver Jim Gillespie scored his first lifetime win in the first race tonight at Kawartha Downs while reigning driving champion Gord Brown extended his lead on top of the standings with four trips to the winner’s circle.

lifetime win for both the driver and the horse, a three-year-old son of Camluck owned by Carolyn Jarrell of Roslin, Ontario. It was also the first start of the year for Wildcast Hilton who made three starts last year at two.

In the second race Elegant Holiday recorded her second straight victory at Kawartha in 2:00.2 for trainer Dagfin Henriksen. The three-year-old daughter of Holiday Road has won four of five starts at KD this year.

Brown’s first win of the night came with the three-year-old Majestic Son filly Majestic Maggie who also recorded her first lifetime win. Tymal Pronto, Allstar Seelster and Jackson Killean provided his other three wins on the program.

Nick Boyd also had driving double on the card scoring with New Favorite and The Bad Life.

Racing returns to Kawartha Downs next Saturday night with a 7 p.m. post time.
