Murray Brethour, one of Ontario’s top conditioners of young harness horses, will have double the chance to make it to the Kawartha Downs’ winner’s circle in the first race on Saturday night.
Murray has a pair of young fillies entered into the event including a two-year-old homebred he owns and trains called Tobis Town. The daughter of Jeremes Jet will be making her first lifetime start from post seven with Murray in the sulky. Murray has enlisted Reg Gassien to pilot his other entrant, the three-year-old Mach Three miss Bonnies Gem. The filly has two wins, both at Kawartha, in three lifetime starts. She is owned by breeder Brian Scott.
The Brethour barn will be busy Saturday as they are also starting the three-year-old trotter Sibson in the second race. The son of Majestic Son owned by breeder Dr. Huw Llewellyn, has drawn the coveted rail position. Racing gets underway at 7 p.m. Saturday. The program is available below.
