LONG JOHN 200 ENDURO RACE


RULES

 

 

Kawartha Speedway has set forth the following Rules and Regulations as a guideline for the conduct of the sport of automobile racing.  They are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator or official.

 

Kawartha Speedway will not permit the use or consumption of drugs or alcoholic beverages on speedway property.

 

Race Procedures:

 

1.    Starting Line Up will be determined by a random draw before the event.  Car must be eligible to start event before competitor draws number.

2.    Each entry must have two scorers.  An area indoors will be reserved for scorers ONLY.  They will follow the instructions of the head scorer.  A mandatory meeting for all drivers and scorers will be held on race day.

3.    Each car will pay a $25.00 entry fee.

4.    Cars will be lined up based on draw results.  Cars will hold position on track until green flag is displayed to start the race.

5.    Yellow flag will be displayed only to rescue cars and drivers that are stuck during race.  Stranded cars will be pulled to infield.  Remaining cars on track will hold position until green flag is displayed again.  Yellow flag laps count towards total laps.

6.    Red flag will be displayed if track is blocked and racing cannot continue safely.  All cars must stop.  Race will be re-started with all cars in same position as before red flag.

7.    Cars will be allowed to enter Pit Road for repairs during race.  Cars may enter under green or yellow conditions only and will be instructed by an official as to when they may re-enter speedway.

8.    The flag man may black flag and disqualify any car for leaking fluids, parts falling off or rough driving.

9.    The white flag will indicate when the leader of the event begins the last lap.

10. The Checkered flag will indicate the finish of the event.  The first car to complete the designated number of laps will be declared the winner.

11. Kawartha Speedway will have final determination of event winner.

 

 

 

 

 

The Decisions of Kawartha Speedway Officials on Race Procedures will be final,

and there shall be no appeal or protest thereof.  Interpretation of Race

Procedures and Rules include, but are not limited to, the Line-Up of cars, the

Start of the Race, the Control of the Cars, decisions to Stop or Delay a race, the

positioning of cars on Re-Starts, the assessment of Lap and Time Penalties,

along with the interpretation of technical rulings regarding a cars legality for

competition.

 

Frame, Chassis & Cages:

 

1.    Any two wheel drive car with a minimum wheel base of 101” may be used.  Trucks, 4-Wheel Drive vehicles, and Station Wagons will not be permitted.

2.    Uni-Body cars may be used, but are required to brace left side with one door bar.  Door Bar must connect front and rear door post on driver’s side of car, must be a minimum of 1 ¾” diameter and have 0.095” wall thickness.  Tubing may be either welded or bolted in.

3.    Full roll cage constructed of 1 ¾” tubing and having 0.095” wall thickness is accepted and recommended.  Cage may not extend beyond front or rear firewalls.

4.    Single “Roll Over” bar must be installed directly behind driver’s seat if full cage option is not utilized.  Bar must be constructed of a minimum 1 ¾” tubing with a wall thickness of not less than 0.095”.  Post must have a minimum of 4”x 4” plate on both ends to attach to floor and roof.  Bar may be either welded or bolted in.

5.    Front radiator support bars are permitted.  Bars angling rear ward from radiator may not extend any further back than 6” behind rad.  Radiator must maintain stock location.

Interior:

 

1.    All flammable materials must be removed.

2.    Any holes in floor and firewalls must be sealed.

3.    If battery is located in drivers compartment, it must be contained in a sealed spill proof container and be securely fastened to the floor with 3/8 bolts and fender washers.

4.    Cars must have a 2 ½ pound fire extinguisher, with either a steel or aluminum head, mounted in a steel bracket within reach of driver with his/her belts fastened.  Must have current charge date.

 

Bodies:

 

1.     Cars must have a full body.  Inner door panels and roof supports must be

maintained for safety purposes.

2.     All glass (except windshield) must be removed.  If windshield is removed the opening must be fully covered with screen and two support braces.

3.     All doors must be welded or bolted shut.

4.     Factory hood and trunk latches must be removed and an external release must be used.

5.     Bumpers must be chained to a solid frame/body member.

6.     Any trailer hitches must be removed.

7.     Car number must be a minimum of 3 inches wide, 18 inches tall and appear on both doors.

 

Suspension:

 

1.    Suspension must be stock for year, make and model of car.

2.    Wheel camber must not exceed 2 1/2 degree’s, positive or negative, for 8 cylinder cars and may not exceed 4 degree’s, positive or negative, for 6 cylinder cars.

3.    Spring spacers may not be used.

4.    Welded rear ends and mini spools will not be permitted.  Stock OEM only.

 

Tires and Wheels:

  1. Maximum 9” DOT tires with a minimum tread wear rating of 200 will be allowed.  Tires may be a maximum of two sizes different from side to side and front to rear.  Race tires or directional tires will not be allowed.  Studs in tires will not be permitted.  Wheel weights are not permitted.  Tread depth must not be less than 1/8”.  Snow Tires will be allowed.
  2. Cars must run the same size rim on all four wheels.  Racing wheels will be permitted, but must maintain factory off-set only.

 

Engines:

 

1.    Engine must remain completely stock for year, make and model of car being run.

2.    Engine must maintain stock compression for year, make and model of car and may be checked with “whistler”.

3.    A minimum engine vacuum of 17 inches will be enforced.

4.    Engines may be interchanged if available for year, make and model.

5.    All cars must run an OEM type muffler.

 

Safety:

 

1.      Seat must be solidly mounted to the floor.

2.      Lap and Shoulder belts are required.

3.      Gas Tank must be placed in trunk.  Tank must be securely mounted with a minimum of two (2) straps running front to back and one (1) strap running side to side.  Straps must be a minimum of 2” x 1/16”.  Straps must be bolted in with a minimum of 3/8 bolts with washers.  Fuel lines will not be allowed in driver’s compartment.

4.      A working fuel shut off valve must be located in the rear firewall or parcel shelf area.  Valve must be marked on/off and easily accessible for safety personnel.

5.      Fire suits are strongly recommended.  Drivers must wear full pants and long sleeve shirts.   Full face helmets are recommended.  Helmets must be approved by speedway officials. 

6.      2-way radios are not permitted.

 

Any part not specifically named within these rules, must remain completely stock.  Stock parts are referred to as those found within an OEM Parts Manual.  Any engine, chassis or equipment changes/modifications not covered within these rules must be submitted to speedway officials for approval before event.
