American Sara, a member of KD’s regular Murray Brethour’s stable, overcame the adverse racing conditions tonight at Woodbine to record her third straight victory in just her fourth lifetime start.
Sylvain Filion was up behind the three-year-old daughter of American Ideal who hauled down Mia Oh My in the stretch to win in 1:56 over the track rated sloppy. Mia Oh My held for second while Clear Idea rallied for third.
Trainer Murray Brethour co-owns the youngster with Dr. Reg Westgarth of Amherstburg, Ontario. Murray bred the filly who is the third foal of his former stable star Freckly Sara, a Mach Three mare who earned $245,000 in her career for Murray and partner the late Stephen Scarff. She is a full sister to another of Murray’s stars, Mach Dreamer ($889,000).<
American Sara was unraced as a two-year-old. She made her first charted line in a qualifier in February and was third in her first lifetime start at Woodbine where she was interfered with. She’s won her subsequent third straight starts all at the Toronto oval.
