With Brad Rae back in the bike for trainer Nelson White, the post time favourite rallied from off the pace to take a new mark of 1:57.3. King Trut (Gord Brown) left from the inside post and carved out early panels of :28.3 and :57.4 while Dropofthehammer sat in sixth. After the half, Carsons Jazzman (Murray Samons) moved out from fifth providing Dropofthehammer with cover en route to three-quarters in 1:27.3. Down the stretch, Dropofthehammer pounced on the pacesetter and used a :29.4 final frame to win by two and a half lengths. King Trut held for second and Carsons Jazzman finished third. Owned by David White and Jared Overland of Rockwood, Ont., the four-year-old son of Yankee Glide notched his third win of the season and fifth of his career boosting his bankroll to over $30,000.
