| Tuesday, October 24, 2006 - 4:15 Ladies Night - Think Pink Featuring the inaugural Mildred Williams Ladies Driving Series Final The series was named for one of harness racing's most successful female drivers. Mildred began her career in the 1950s, and retired in 1973 as the winningest female driver. On October 24th, Mildred, now 91, will present the trophy to the winner of the series named in her honour. As well, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Kawartha Downs will be running a "Time Breaker Challenge." Race Secretary Dave McGee will pre-assign "times" for each race, based on the class of the horses. Each time a winner beats the "time", Kawartha Downs will donate $1,000 to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation! Now there are two reasons to cheer on your "pick"! Ladies - you'll receive a FREE program, a pink flower and be eligible for great door prizes! |
